Written originally as a guide book for Captain John W. Harper of the steamer, Wilmington, this volume describes the points of interest along the steamer's route. It is an excellent piece of regional, history-folklore which recounts legends of blockade-running, war-time heroism, and battles won and lost. Included also are descriptions of boats, houses, parts of Wilmington, docks and ferries, points and beaches, early explorations, Tryon Palace, plantations, forifications and landings, pirates, and ships and pilots.
