How do you select the titles you have reprinted?
For about fifteen years during the 1970s and 1980s we conducted a number of reprint projects working with state library associations throughout the South. Most of the books reprinted in those projects were recommended by a committee of librarians and historians in a particular state and were selected as representative of the out-of-print books which were pertinent to a study of that state’s early history, etc. We also pay particular attention to selected bibliographies of material for individual states. And, we are always open to suggestions of titles to consider.
What is the quality of the books you have reprinted?
Our books are manufactured by some of the most prominent of the medium-to-short run book manufacturers in this country. The books are printed on a long-life paper with a neutral pH factor. They are sturdily bound in cloth. There are a few exceptions which are bound in paper and those are clearly noted.
What does Print on Demand mean?
Historically books have been printed via offset printing in press runs beginning in the few hundreds of copies and going into thousands of copies. With the advent of digital printing and technological advances in the printing industry, Print on Demand has become an affordable option. With this, it is possible to do one copy at a time. In our case, our books are scanned into our digital library. When you place an order for one copy of a particular title, that copy is produced upon receipt of your order and will ship to you within five business days. These books are hardback and are printed on a long-life paper.
Do you offer your books on CDs or as E-books?
At this time, we have no plans to offer either CDs or E-book formats.
Are all the titles listed on this website in stock and available?
Yes. There are two kinds of titles listed here. There are titles which we have in inventory in our warehouse and orders for those titles are shipped from that inventory. The titles listed as Print on Demand are available in that format and are printed upon receipt of an order and ship within five business days directly from the bindery. If one of the titles in our warehouse goes out of print, we will place it in our digital library to offer as Print on Demand or take it off the website listing.
